English Coonhound (short coat) Dog

Eleanor (Ellie) *SPECIAL NEEDS* the Dog needs a home

STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.

Hi!  My name is Eleanor or Ellie for short.  I'm about 5 years old and I'm a version of an English Coonhound known as a Redtick. I was saved from life outdoors and not being fed by the local animal control and then found my way to rescue and my foster home.  I've gained some weight and currently weigh 47 pounds, but should be closer to 60-65lbs eventually.  My foster mom says she's going to "put some meat on my bones."  I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I like meat and I like bones, so I guess it's a good thing! Unfortunately, we've found out that I have seizures. I'm on medication now to stop them and hopefully it will work, but I may have to be on them for the rest of my life.   My foster mom says I'm very smart and very sweet.  I really love her and love giving her lots of kisses when she pets my head or rubs my ears. I also love to snuggle!   I have two foster dog brothers and am very good with them.  I'm doing well with my foster cat too after a proper introduction and with supervision.  It'll be a few weeks before I'm ready to go to my forever home, and I'll need a very special one that can take care of my medical needs,  but if you think you'd like me to be part of your family, please put in an application now!  If you have any questions about me you can contact my foster mom at [email protected]

All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped.

AGE DISCLAIMER:
Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.
  BREED DISCLAIMER:
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality,
not
by breed label .
Microchips:
For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter!
